Things have been so busy in Trekland I have neglected to let our Michigan friends know I was in their backyard this week—at cozy, nearby and free public libraries, just like last summer.
Trek2Michigan II is going on tonight and tomorrow night, Aug. 15 and 16, at two of Greater Detroit’s fine public libraries. If you are in the lower Wolverine State, come by! We’ll talk, laugh, reflect and ponder Star Trek as everyone wonders just how Discovery will be received, and take its place in the Trek pantheon.
And unlike a convention setting for Trek, library meetups are calm, intimate— and free!
Both nights we start at 7 p.m., and I’ll have a few table items as well: at West Bloomfield tonight (Tuesday), and then back at Dearborn Heights’ Caroline Kennedy Library Wednesday, where our theme this year is formally “The Meaning of Star Trek.” They gave us a great sendoff last summer, when we got to four area libraries across five days for the 50th.
Those are the links for each library’s webpage with directions, but I also have info on our calendar here for both tonight at West Bloomfield and Wednesday at Dearborn Heights.
I want to thank Rob Butler at Dearborn Heights, who got this critter started last year among so many libraries and again hosted me for 2017, and especially Amanda Bacalis at West Bloomfield, for getting the ball rolling in the neighborhood again for this sequel!
