Are you headed to the big Creation Star Trek Las Vegas convention this year? Want to add on a memorable side trip to your Vegas experience?
You may have heard about the big #LA2Vegas Trek film site tour that @GeekNationTours produces every other year that I lead. After our biggest-ever 50th anniversary tour last year, you can’t sign up for 2018—yet.
But every other year, you can still get a taste of Trek film touring with our one-day Valley of Fire “Kirk Memorial” tour—on the Tuesday before #STLV opens on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Captain Kirk famously died on Veridian III in Generations, but it was Nevada’s incredibly scenic Valley of Fire State Park locale that stood in for the alien Class M planet. On our early-rising tour, we beat the guest heat and see not only the mountain where the filming took place, but scope out the entire behind-the-scenes set-up. What’s ore, we also visit other local landmarks and the “Killer Bridge” that are also connected to Star Trek points of interest. And visit the park’s visitor center for the natural and native info that comes up while we visit. Lunch is included, too.
And just like the full tour, I’ll be there to provide a lot of deep-diving behind-the-scenes info and insight about that shoot, and some stories involved. Makeup legend and Generations vet Michael Westmore will join us too, if his FaceOff filming schedule allows it.
Just be at the Rio a day early—we leave from the hotel, and in the early morning cool to beat the worst of the midday August desert. You can even bring your uniform or other cosplay ideas, and change once we are on-site: you want to beat the heat, but there’s noting like the real backdrop for a memorable photo op like no other.
Space is limited to 20, so jump aboard now!

Any space left? Not sure I can get there in time but would like to try.

Yes, there’s space. It leaves early at 7 AM to deal with beating the heat.
