I’ll see you back at SoonerCon, finally— and not just for an award

It’s so exciting to have SoonerCon back after two years of COVID cancellations—this June 24-26 at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in Norman, OK.

They’re calling this SoonerCon 30, after #29 was saved for the virtual masquerade contests and events that stood in during the second year of COVID shutdown.

And the comeback edition of the con I helped to found is going to be a super-special one:

I already mentioned SCon’s parent non-profit, the Future Society of Central Oklahoma, is inducting me into the Oklahoma Speculative Fiction Hall of Fame.

As my guy Will Rogers said in a similar situation, “No matter where you roam in this world, it’s what the home folks think of you that counts.”

But that’s just a part of the opening ceremonies of SoonerCon, so hey —there’s lots more than that!  You can still get in  — and kids 12 and under are still free— for Oklahoma’s biggest and oldest multi-arena weekend of pop culture and sci-fi goodness:  from indie filmmakers to cosplay, art show, anime, gaming, LARPing, kids programming, authors and and artists and crafters—i.e., the works.

My own schedule, is below:

This year’s SoonerCon charity is Bridges of Norman. a non-profit which helps highschoolers no longer living at home with housing and independence, finishing high school and college prep, so as to avoid the foster care system.

After two years of  COVID Con Cancelled, I can’t wait to see my red-dirt homies and my week back among family and friends of any stripe. I know we’ll have the local Portal 47ers there for a LiveDive meetup…Love to see Treklanders there, too. Maybe you need to put growing, fan-produced SoonerCon on your con comeback trail this year, too!
